About Us
Hi there!

As the University of Surrey's Women in Engineering Society, we aim to provide social, educational and networking opportunities for everyone who wants to see more women involved with engineering and STEM subjects.

You don't have to be female and you don't have to be studying engineering to come to our events, just have a passion for supporting women within the field. Everyone is welcome! Check out when our next event is here and we look forward to meeting you!

What can you expect?
Socials

We hold regular social events where our members can get to know each other and relax after a long day of virtual lectures. These include quiz nights, movie screenings and collaborations with other societies.
Industry Talks

To give our members an insight about life as a female engineer we often invite external speakers to share their thoughts and advice with our members.
Networking
All of our events offer invaluable networking opportunities. This could be with fellow students or professionals working within the industry. You never know who you could meet!
Got a great idea for an event? We'd love to hear from you -
why not send us a message telling us all about it?
Who are WES?
We are affiliated with WES, the Women's Engineering Society. They are a charity and professional network of women who offer inspiration, support and development. Since 1919 they have been supporting and inspiring women to achieve as engineers, scientists and leaders to meet their vision:

a nation in which women are as likely as men to choose to study and work in engineering

As an affiliated society, there are many ways that members can benefit from WES; from attending annual student conferences to having the opportunity to participate in a nationwide support network.

Civil Engineering, Final Year
I am a final year Civil Engineering student who is excited to take on the role of ensuring our society, and the events we host, run as smoothly as possible throughout the year. I hope to provide a supportive environment and opportunities for students to network with lecturers, research staff, alumni and external speakers.
